The Shirt Tail Stompers are widely regarded as one of the best social dance bands in Europe. Founded in 2010 for the London Lindy Exchange, they’ve played in over 25 countries across camps, festivals and dance events of every kind. Dancers around the world love them for one simple reason: they know exactly what a dance floor needs to come alive. That’s not luck — it’s years of experience, deep listening and a genuine passion for swing music in its most authentic form.
Their roots go back to the greats of the 1920s, 30s and 40s -Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Fletcher Henderson, Count Basie – and you can hear every single one of them. Old school, in the very best sense.

Danish vocalist Sara Oschlag is a familiar voice on the British jazz scene. A long-time resident of Brighton, Sara has appeared at innumerable jazz clubs and festivals: Brighton to Hexham, to the international stage (Istanbul, Lithuania, Seoul). In possession of an enviable vocal range, inspired by Shirley Horn, Anita O’Day, Nancy Wilson and others, Sara has shared a stage with Alan Barnes, Benny Benack III, Pete Long and many others. Sara makes her Lit & Phil debut in the company of renowned bassist Arnie Somogyi (Scott Hamilton, Arturo Sandoval, Stan Tracey, film, radio, tv), Joe Steels (guitar) and John Hirst (drums).

Arnie Somogyi is one of the UK’s most in-demand bass players and has played on over 60 albums, including five as a leader. He has recorded, performed and toured with many of the world’s leading jazz musicians, The Mingus Big Band and many international stars such as Tom Jones, Charlie Watts, Amy Winehouse, Richard Ashcroft and Omar. He has appeared frequently at world-renowned jazz club Ronnie Scott’s, both as a sideman, leader and member of The Ronnie Scott’s All-Stars. His music has featured on radio, television and in the feature film The Talented Mr Ripley.
