DUKE & ELLA
Following their sold-out inaugural Dean Street 2023 concert and a follow up successful return last year, we had no hesitation in arranging this further 2025 Summertime return for Pete Long and his Echoes of Ellington Big Band presenting the Duke Ellington Song Book, featuring the sensational voice of Sara Oschlag, echoing the style of the great Ella Fitzgerald.
Led by the effervescent clarinetist, saxophonist & band leader, Pete Long, the Echoes of Ellington big band has received great praise nationally as well as internationally. Critics highlight the high level of musicianship and the inventive arrangements, particularly the way the orchestra evokes the writing style of Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. The band is praised for its ability to "get inside the scores" and deliver the "Ellington flavor"- add to that, Sara Oschlag, Danish born but residing in the UK since 2000, who’s natural ability to swing & rhythmically play around with phrasing, perfectly suits the joyous & always respectful to the history & language of jazz, style of Echoes of Ellington. The result is nothing short of a perfectly delivered explosion of sound.

Rasmus Sørensen, the 27-year-old pianist from Northern Jutland, has in recent years gained international recognition for his innovative yet accessible sound as both a musician and composer. After taking part in numerous projects both in Denmark and abroad, Rasmus released his acclaimed debut album Traits in 2022, followed by his second album Balancing Act in 2024, featuring American jazz musicians Kendrick Scott and Alex Claffy. This release earned Rasmus a Danish Music Awards Jazz prize as Musician of the Year. In November, he released his latest album At The Right Time, which has received highly positive reviews, including five hearts in Politiken.
Arnie Somogyi is a prominent British bassist and composer. Well known to British jazz audiences as the bandleader of the innovative sextet Ambulance and the Anglo-Hungarian 10-piece ensemble/orchestra Improvokation, he has also worked with a wide range of leading international jazz artists, including Eddie Henderson, Bobby Hutcherson, and Steve Grossman, as well as stars like Amy Winehouse and Tom Jones.
His music was part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad, where his project Untrue Island, created in collaboration with author Robert Macfarlane for the National Trust, combined music, literature, and nature.
